James Benton Leamer

James Benton Leamer, age 77, of Lakewood, Colorado, formerly of Hollidaysburg, died Monday, Apr. 15, 2019 from a brief battle with cancer. He was born May 12, 1941 in Aliquippa, son of the late James Moore Leamer and Mary Ellen (Benton) Leamer.

Survived by his long time companion, Stephanie Longsdorf; a sister Mary Ellen Leamer of Duncansville; two brothers: Joseph Leamer (wife Babs) of Duncansville and John Leamer (wife Barb) of Hollidaysburg; and a brother-in-law Terry Ventre of Duncansville.

He was preceded in death by a sister Linda Ventre.

Jim was a 1959 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and a 1964 graduate of Colorado State College. He worked as a teacher, coach and counselor in the Denver, CO school system.

Jim enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, going fishing in Canada with family, vacationing with Stephanie, and traveling back to Pennsylvania to visit family and friends, especially over the holidays.

Friends will be received from 9am to 10am on Sat., May 4, 2019 at St. Mary’s Church, Hollidaysburg, where a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10am, officiated by Father Anthony Legarski. Interment will take place at New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hollidaysburg.
