Shirley F. Ritchey, age 91, a resident of Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg, formerly of Duncansville, died Monday morning, June 17, 2019, at the home. She was born April 21, 1928 in East Freedom, daughter of the late Francis R. and Irva J. (Smith) Heuston. She married Thomas C. Ritchey on Nov. 24, 1949 at St. Patrick’s Church, Newry. He preceded her in death on Oct. 3, 1997.
Survived by a son Scott Ritchey (Susan) of Duncansville; two son-in-laws: George Petrou of Duncansville and Donald Feathers of Hollidaysburg; 6 grandchildren: Trevor Petrou, Trina Botteicher (Scott), Scott Ritchey, Jr., Tiffany Lanzendorfer (Brent), Ashley Davis (Cody) and Matthew Feathers (Stacey); three great-grandchildren: Ayla and Adeline Botteicher and Trenten Lanzendorfer; and a nephew David “Butch” Wilt of Florida, whom she raised in her home.
She was preceded in death by two daughters: Hope Petrou on Feb. 15, 2006 and Joy Feathers on March 23, 2018; a sister Luella Wilt; and a brother Merle Heuston.
Shirley retired from the Presbyterian Home in Hollidaysburg, where she worked as a housekeeping supervisor for 28 years. She then worked at Gardner’s Candies for several years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild.
She enjoyed square dancing, going camping, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 6-9pm on Wed., June 19, 2019 at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 1218 4th Ave., Duncansville. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Thurs., June 20 at St. Mary’s Church, Hollidaysburg, officiated by Father Anthony Legarski. Interment will take place at Alto-Reste Cemetery.
