Audrey J (Hite) Glass

Audrey J. Glass, age 83, of Newry, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2020, at her residence, surrounded by her family. She was born March 25, 1937 in Newry, daughter of the late Sheldon E. and Gladys M. (Baker) Hite. She married George M. “Tappy” Glass on May 13, 1953. He preceded her in death Nov. 27, 2016.

She is survived by children: Allen Glass (Cathy) of Duncansville, Ricky Glass of Newry, and Bonnie Frederick (Mark) of Altoona; 7 grandchildren: Rusty Glass (Betty), Roni Greim (Matt), Rikky Oakley (Randy), Marie Keller (Shawn), and Emily, Luke and John Frederick; 7 great-grandchildren: Payton Glass, Sofia and Remy Oakley, Cora, Elise, and Dominic Greim, and David Keller; three step-great-grandchildren: Ryan, Zach, and Jamie Andrews of Alaska; four sisters: Jane Doebler, Lois Ritchey, Patty Smith, and Suzie Ickes; a sister-in-law, Sis Hite; and special nieces: Debbie Lutz and Tina Gills.

She was preceded in death by siblings: Dorie Dodson, Marge Hite, and Sheldon Hite.

Audrey retired from Bon Secours Hospital as a housekeeper. She was a life member of St. Patick Church, Newry, where she was in the choir and ran the back room of St. Patrick’s BINGO for many years.

She enjoyed country music and Elvis, going to Branson, Missouri and Nashville, Tennessee with Tappy, going to see her grandchildren playing sports at Bishop Guilfoyle, going to lunch with her sisters on “sib day”, breakfast with girls from Bon Secours, and lunch with ladies from Newry Post Office.

As she leaves us, we can all fondly hear her say, “I am going home!”

Friends will be received from 9:30-11:30am on Thurs., Nov. 12, 2020 at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Duncansville. A funeral Mass will be follow at Noon at St. Patrick Church, Newry, Father Allen Zeth, celebrant. Interment will take place at Newry Lutheran Cemetery.
