Barbara M. Knott-Chisko, age 87, Altoona, died peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones on Sunday, August 13, 2023. She was born December 16, 1935 in Altoona, a daughter of the late Bartholomew G. Hmel and Thelma M. (McClain) Hmel-Green.
She is survived by a daughter, Susan Talasky; four granddaughters: Megan Dively (Josh Brown), Taylor Talasky (Patrick Smith), Jaclyn Talasky (Curtis Johnston), and TerryLee Talasky (Ross Venman); two great-grandchildren: Alexander and Rylee; and a brother, Bart Hmel.
She was preceeded in death by her first husband, Frank Knott; a son, Brian Knott; her second husband, Michael Chisko; and a sibling, Sister Beverly Hmel.
Barbara worked as a certified nursing assistant at Mercy Hospital/Bon Secours Hospital and UPMC Altoona for over 30 years. She enjoyed her long walks, bowling, reading, and spending time with her family. She was an avid member of the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Society.
She will always be remembered for her contagious smile and kind personality. She will be always missed by many.
There will be no public viewing at the request of the deceased.
A Mass will be Celebrated at 10am on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona.
