Barbara J (Hagie) Swartz

Barbara J. Swartz, age 84, of Duncansville, died Friday, April 5, 2024 at Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg following an extended illness. She was born February 7, 1940 in Altoona, a daughter of the late Russell R. and Mary A. (Weaver) Hagie. She married Richard Alfred Clinger in 1961. He preceded her in death in 1985. She then married Clarence E. Swartz in 1996. He also preceded her in death in 2010.

Surviving are two sons: Donald G. Clinger and George H. Clinger, both of Duncansville; three grandchildren: Adam Bailor, Justin Clinger, and Codi Stott; three great-grandsons: Carson Bailor, Mason Loucks, and Coby Clinger; two sisters: Anne Alexander of Hollidaysburg and Carol Corbin of Duncansville; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three children: Jeffrey Clinger, Richard Alan "Rick" Clinger and Rhonda Bailor; and a sister, Sandra Powley.

Barbara was a 1958 graduate of Altoona High School. She retired from Altoona Hospital, where she worked in housekeeping for 36 years.

She was a member First Baptist Church, Hollidaysburg. She enjoyed shopping and playing games on her phone.

There will be no public viewing. Graveside services to be held at a later date at Alto-Reste Cemetery, to be announced.
