Beverly Litzinger Obituary

Beverly Ann (Caltabaugh) Litzinger, age 72, of Duncansville, passed away peacefully at home on Monday morning, January 31, 2022, with her husband and daughter by her side, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She was born June 7, 1949 in Altoona, a daughter of the late Harold E. and Helen L. (Crotsley) Caltabaugh. She married John P. Litzinger of Altoona on June 20, 1969. They shared 52 beautiful years of marriage together.

She is survived by her husband and their daughter Heather M. (Eric) Miller. She also leaves behind two granddaughters: Shauni L. (Jean-Paul) Royea and Siarra M. Bardell; five great-grandchildren; a sister Betty L. (Donnie) McDonough; her mother-in-law Mary C. (Shoenfelt) Litzinger; her sister-in-law Darlene (James) Weibley; as well as many nieces and nephews; and numerous friends that were very special to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her father-in-law James S. Litzinger, and her brother-in-law James E. “Herk” Litzinger.

Beverly was a devout member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Duncansville.  In 1967, she graduated from Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School and went on to study Nursing at the Altoona School of Commerce, where she graduated as an LPN in 1969. She worked at Garvey Manor, as well as the Presbyterian Home, both in Hollidaysburg. She worked until 1977, when she and her husband welcomed their daughter, Heather, in to the world. She remained home to raise her and quickly became the neighborhood mom and never returned to the workforce.

While she enjoyed camping, listening to music, planting flowers everywhere, knitting, crocheting, ceramic painting, and many other crafts, going to the beach, sitting on the porch with family and friends, but her most loved joy came from her granddaughters and her great-grandchildren. Beverly was the most genuine, kindest, selfless, and caring woman, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She has left a void with so many that can never be filled.

Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-9pm and on Thursday, February 3 from 10am until the 11am funeral service, officiated by Chaplain Rebecca Shuster, at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 1218 4th Ave., Duncansville. Interment will take place at Carson Valley Cemetery, Duncansville.
