Beverly Port Obituary

Beverly L. Port, age 59, of Altoona, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Hilltop Heights Health and Rehab Center in Johnstown. She was born on July 11, 1966, in Altoona, daughter of David L. Port Sr. and the late Lois J. (Grove) Reed.

Beverly’s life was defined by caring for others. From a young age, she stepped into motherhood and embraced it fully, dedicating herself completely to raising her children with love, strength, and sacrifice. As a devoted single mother, she worked most of her life as a home health aide, spending her days caring for others so she could provide for her own family. Caregiving was not just her profession; it was her calling.

Her children and grandchildren were always her first priority. Beverly consistently put their needs ahead of her own, ensuring they were loved, supported, and guided. She had a daughter who carries so many of Beverly’s same loving, compassionate traits, a reflection of the care, strength, and heart Beverly poured into her family. She raised her boys to be men of character, men who would grow into fathers themselves and continue the values she instilled in them. Her influence lives on through the generations she helped shape.

Beverly had a quick wit and an immediate response to silliness. Laughter came easily to her, and she brought light into everyday moments with her humor and warmth. She loved deeply and without condition. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she thought of them often, cherishing each one. Her love was never limited by biology or circumstance. Children and grandchildren who came into her life through marriage, relationships, or changing family paths were embraced fully and remained close to her heart, even through separation, distance, or difficult seasons. Anyone she welcomed as family stayed family to her.

She was artistic by nature and enjoyed hobbies that allowed her to create and express herself, especially crafting and making things by hand. Even in her creativity, her focus was often on others, making things to give away, to help, or to bring someone joy. Above all else, Beverly’s greatest priority was helping others, often before helping herself.

Beverly’s faith was reflected not only in what she believed, but in how she lived. She believed in Jesus Christ and embodied His command to love one another. Through her kindness, compassion, patience, and tireless service to others, she showed Christ’s love in practical and tangible ways. She lived out “love thy neighbor” daily, often quietly and without recognition, serving others with humility and grace. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now at peace, resting in the presence of the Lord she trusted and reflected throughout her life.

Surviving are her five children, Jessica Montgomery (Rob), Charles Dempsie (Katelyn), Jeffery Port, Tyler Port, and Kevin Port (Christy); numerous grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her father, David Port Sr.; and her siblings, Rose Bonner, David Port Jr., and Tricia Reed. She was preceded in death by her mother and her sister, Susan Port.

Friends will be received on Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Center City Church, 1220 12th Avenue, Altoona. Pastor Mark Mielnik Jr. will officiate.

Beverly will be remembered for her selflessness, her humor, her creativity, her deep faith, and her unwavering devotion to family. Her legacy is one of love without conditions, service without hesitation, and a heart that never closed its doors. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is now whole, healed, and home with the Lord.
