Carmen V (Hamler) Schwartz

Carmen V. Schwartz, age 99, of Duncansville, died Sunday, July 13, 2025 at home. She was born May 29, 1926 in Altoona, daughter of the late Furman David ‘Fred’ and Pauline (Johnson) Hamler. She married Melvin C. Schwartz on February 9, 1946 in Altoona. He preceded her in death on October 16, 2009.

Surviving are three sons: David C. Schwartz, Gary L. Schwartz, and Jeffrey L. Schwartz (Mary); five grandchildren: Christine Daubert (Mike), Jonathan Schwartz (Amy), Amy Schroeder (Bryan), Brandon Schwartz (Molly), and Dr. Janaye Schwartz; and 9 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Sharon, in 2022.

Carmen was a 1943 graduate of Altoona High School. She retired from Riverside Markets.

She was a member of Foot of Ten Independent Baptist Church, and previously enjoyed bowling and traveling.

Friends will be received on Thursday, July 17, 2025 from 4 until the 6pm funeral service at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Duncansville. Pastor Dave Huston will officiate. Interment will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery.
