Carol A (Jackson) Walters

Carol Alene (Jackson) Walters, age 83, of Duncansville, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, May 19, 2024, at the Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg. She was surrounded by the love of family and caretakers. She was born April 23, 1941 in Duncansville, the daughter of the late G. Louis and Dorothy (Hoover) Jackson.

Carol was a 1959 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and a 1962 graduate of Altoona School of Nursing. On December 9, 1961, she married Wilford “Willy” Walters. She served as an R.N. in pediatrics and maternity at the Altoona Hospital for more than 30 years.

Surviving are two sons: Kevin (Robin) of Duncansville and Eli (Lauren) of State College; a daughter, Penny Hood (Brian) of Fort Washington; 8 grandchildren: Gregory, Zachary, Geena, Jesse, Gabriel, Evelyn, Benaiah, and Victoria; many nieces and nephews; and her lifelong best friend, Laurel Snyder.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, seven siblings, and two children: Kerry and Peggy.

Carol was a member of Carson Valley Church of the Brethren where she served as a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher and a youth advisor. She had a caretaker’s heart and served many through hospitality and practical and medical help. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her greatest joys were spending time with her family and telling people about Jesus.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., Wed., May 22, 2024 at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Duncansville. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thurs., May 23 at Carson Valley Church of the Brethren. Pastor Bradley Runkle will officiate. Interment will be at Carson Valley Cemetery.
