Catherine J McClain

Catherine J. McClain, age 103, a resident of Garvey Manor, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Duncansville, died Tuesday evening, December 26, 2017 at the home. Born February 21, 1914 in Altoona, daughter of the late Jacob and Anna (Ball) Seiler. She married James B. McClain on Jan. 27, 1931 at St. Patrick Church. He preceded her in death on Aug. 23, 1986.

Survived by 8 grandchildren, including Anthony Lupold and Samantha Benton (Ron); 13 great-grandchildren, including Michael Benton (Tai), and Bryan Benton (Amber); 5 great-great-grandchildren: Hailee, Emiley, Lauren, Aubrey and Ava Benton; a sister, Anna Moughemer and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her three daughters: Anna Mae McClain, Betty Jane "Jingles" McClain, and Mary Catherine "Skip" Hoover; four brothers: John, Martin, Jack and Steven Seiler; and two grandsons: Danny Lupold and Mathew Hoover.

Catherine attended Morrison's Cove School. She retired from GTE Sylvania in 1979. She was a member of Sylvania Monitors Club.

She was a founding life-member of St. Catherine of Siena Church, where she used to be a eucharistic minister. She was a past member of Catholic Daughter of America.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Friends will be received on Friday, Dec. 29, 2017 from 9:30am until the 11am Funeral Mass, all at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Duncansville. Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
