Dixie Weaver Obituary

Dixie L. Weaver, age 77, of Puyallup, Washington, lost her long battle with Parkinson’s disease on Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at her home, surrounded by family. She was born January 19, 1947 in Hollidaysburg, PA, a daughter of Vivian L. “Biddy” (Mentzer) Dugan and the late David W. Dugan.

Surviving is her husband of 59 years, Dave Weaver; two sons: David Weaver (wife Jessica) and Doug Weaver (wife Karen); her mother, Vivian Dugan; three sisters: Bonnie Rhodes, Beverly Brown (husband Richard), and Deborah McGee (husband Donald); and an aunt, Dolores Hendrickson.

Dixie was a 1964 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School, where she was active as a cheerleader, band member, and Majorette.

After graduation she and her husband moved west to California and eventually to Washington state, where she worked as an insurance agent until retirement in 1997. She and her husband Dave then took the opportunity for an assignment in Ghana, West Africa, where Dixie became widely recognized in the capital city, Accra and in Tema, where they lived. She had the opportunity to travel in much of West Africa, Europe, and Scandinavia. When she returned to Washington in 2002, she spent her time decorating inside her home, gardening, and playing with her dogs and walking them daily. She loved preparing holiday meals for her family and worked hard to see that everyone else had what they wanted.

She will be terribly missed, but the memories will go on.

Services will be private. Interment will take place at Alto-Reste Cemetery, Altoona, PA.
