Edward C Gearhart

Edward C. Gearhart, age 71, of Duncansville, passed from this world on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and is now rejoicing in Heaven. Ed accepted Jesus as his Savior when he was 12 years old and based on the promise of God’s word was given the assurance of eternal life. Isaiah 40:31 reads: “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint”. This was Ed’s favorite verse and drew much strength from it.

He was born July 11, 1951 in Altoona, a son of the late Dean E. and Aletha M. (Spidle) Gearhart. He married Cynthia M. Dodson on Sept. 4, 1971 at Hick’s Memorial United Methodist Church.

Surviving is his loving wife, Cindy; two children: Jennifer Hileman (Jeffrey) and Kenneth Gearhart (Dana); 8 grandchildren: Keirsten, Mallory, Lydia, and Caleb Hileman, and Kailey, Oliviah, Berkeley, and Bauer Gearhart; three step-grandchildren: Koty, Alex, and Addy; and two great-grandchildren: Paisley and Eleanor.

He was preceded in death by a sister Mary Jane Ferguson and a brother Scott W. Gearhart.

Ed was a 1969 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. He retired as a truck driver for Hoss’s. He previously worked as SKF and Penstan Supply.

He was a life member of Duncansville Volunteer Fire Department, where he was a past Assistant Chief. He was a member of Puzzletown Road Bible Church.

Ed enjoyed riding his motorcycle, going to church, doing woodworking and carpentry, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a fan of PennState and Steelers football. In the past, he loved going for breakfast at the Blue & White in Hollidaysburg.

Friends will be received from 2-4pm on Sunday, October 30, 2022 at Puzzletown Road Bible Church and from 10am until the noon funeral service on Monday, October 31 at Puzzletown Road Bible Church, officiated by Pastor Jon Gross. Interment will take place at Carson Valley Cemetery, Duncansville
