Edwin Ross Hoover, age 80, of Duncansville, died unexpectedly at his residence on Thursday., November 5, 2020. He was born at home in Cross Keys on December 10, 1939, a son of the late Brice D. and Minnie V. (Helsel) Hoover. He married Gaillee A. Bixler on Oct. 10, 1966 in Altoona.
Survived by his loving wife, Gaillee; three children: Holly Bernier (Kent) of Bellefonte, Flo Delozier (Rodney) of Hollidaysburg, and Curtis Petrone (Betty) of Seabrook, TX; 7 grandchildren: Rachael Bernier, Connor Bernier, Jamie Ritchey (Jeremy), Alex Delozier (Cheyenne), Nathan Delozier, Lori Beam, and Curtis Petrone, Jr. (Andrea); 12 great-grandchildren: Dylan, Ethan, Aaron, David, Andrew, Joshua, Jeremiah, Eliyanah, Logan, Lindsay, Lucas, and Riley; two brothers: Wayne and Elvin Hoover; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William, and a sister, Alma.
Ed was a 1957 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and a 1962 graduate of Millersville University of PA. He previously taught politics in Martinsburg and Lancaster area schools, then was proprietor of Elmhurst Village Restaurant in Loretto, was owner of Ed’s Furniture in Newry for several years, and most recently worked for Bath Fitter.
Ed enjoyed dancing and was a previous member of The Chimrock Squares and the Swinging Squares. He was a past member of the Stock Club.
He played baseball and basketball in his early years and received many awards from the Blair County All-Stars. He was musically talented and enjoyed playing guitar and banjo and singing. Ed enjoyed golfing. He was loved by all and was a kind and giving soul.
Friends will be received from 6-8pm on Thurs., Nov. 12, 2020 at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Duncansville. A funeral service will be held privately for the family.
