Elaine P (Bishop) Harshberger

Elaine P. Harshberger, age 86, a resident of Hilltop Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Altoona, passed away peacefully Friday evening, April 18, 2025, joining her beloved husband in Heaven. She was born November 6, 1938 in Gouverneur, New York, daughter of the late Leland H. and Ina P. (Corkum) Bishop. She married Merrill R. Harshberger on August 19, 1961. He preceded her in death August 27, 2024.

Surviving is a son, Stephen Harshberger, Sr. (Tammie); twin daughters: Naoma Moses (John) and Natalie Robinson (Paul); 8 grandchildren: April (Justin), Kristi (Mike), Stephen Jr., John Jr., Sara, Brittanie, Eric, and Kelly; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Winston Bishop (Joanne); and a sister, Lynda Switzer (Thurlow).

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeremy.

Elaine was a 1956 graduate of Herman-DeKalb Central High School. Along with her husband, they delivered papers for the Altoona Mirror for many years, and then they helped with the foster grandparent program.

She loved spending time with her family, enjoyed watching Hallmark movies and doing word search puzzles, and loved her vanilla milkshakes.

Friends will be received from 11am until the 1pm funeral service Thursday, April 24, 2025 at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Duncansville. Rev. Rich Morris will officiate. Interment will take place at Carson Valley Cemetery.
