Gary W Claar Sr.

Gary W. Claar, Sr., age 80, of Duncansville, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at UPMC Altoona following an extended illness. He was born February 26, 1945 in Duncansville, a son of the late Julius E. and Betty L. (Larson) Claar. He married Nancy L. Snyder on Sept. 2, 1967.

Surviving is his wife, Nancy; a son, Gary Wayne Claar (Jill) of Puzzletown; three grandchildren: Shawna McClain (Tim) of Bedford, Stephanie Jones (Wayne) of Altoona, and Dustin Ott (Heather) of Hollidaysburg; 8 great-grandchildren; and siblings: Barry Claar (Diane) of Duncansville, Judy Aigner of Altoona, and John Claar of Duncansville.

Gary was a 1963 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. He retired from Seward Power Plant, where he worked as a repairman.

Gary was an active member of Grace Family Bible Church, Duncansville, and enjoyed helping around the church. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to shotgun shoots, and spending time with family and his church family.

Friends will be received on Monday, April 7, 2025 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Duncansville, and on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 from 10 until the 11am funeral service at Grace Family Bible Church. Pastor James Zaebst will officiate. Interment will take place at Carson Valley Cemetery.
