George Klinedinst Obituary

George L. Klinedinst, Jr., age 77, a resident of the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, Hollidaysburg, formerly of York, died Friday, April 7, 2023 at the home following an extended illness. He was born September 10, 1945 in York, son of the late George L. Klinedinst, Sr. and Phyllis (Seitz) Klinedinst. He married the former Rose A. Dull on May 25, 1967 at the Lutheran Church of Spry in Spry, PA.

Survived by his wife Rose of York; two sons: George L. Klinedinst III (wife Cheryl) of York and Robert P. Klinedinst (wife Lana) of York; four grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and three siblings: Nancy Robinson (husband Joseph) of Seven Valleys, Joan Sprenkel (husband Jim) of Kensington, TN, and Thomas Klinedinst (wife Barbara) of New Oxford.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Jonathan Klinedinst.

George was a 1963 graduate of York High School. He also earned an associate’s degree during his military schooling in computerized accounting and computer programming. He was a US Navy veteran aboard the USS Independence, stationed at Whidbey Island and Coronado, CA. He was proud of his military service. He retired from the Red Roof Inn, where he was a night auditor.

He was a member of Assembly of God Church in York and a member of the Keystone Armature Radio Club in York. He was a volunteer fireman and enjoyed helping at the firehouse.

George enjoyed playing softball, coin and stamp collecting, listening to Johnny Cash music, and was a fan of Phillies MLB. He loved to travel to national parks and ride steam trains.

There will be no public viewing. A graveside military honors service will be held at a later date at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens in York.
