Harry Leroy Johnston, Jr., age 52, of Claysburg, formerly of Altoona, died unexpectedly Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Conemaugh Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring. He was born March 26, 1972 in Altoona, a son of Sally A. (Richards) Frederick and the late Harry L. Johnston, Sr.
Surviving is his mother, Sally Richards; five siblings: Cindy Johnston, David Johnston, Mary Ratzesberger (John), Robert Johnston (Ashley), and Carol Musselman; nieces and nephews: Eric, Emma, Ellie, Sadie, Sophie, and Eric; and aunts and uncles: Dean, Bonnie, Bobbie, Kim, Butch, and Sandy. He is also survived by his girlfriend, Shirley Finnegan.
He was preceded in death by his father on April 8, 1989.
Harry was a 1991 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School.
He was a past member of Duncansville Volunteer Fire Department and Duncansville Fire Police.
Harry was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9pm on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024 and from 10 until the 11am funeral service on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, all at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Duncansville. Pastor John D. Leatherman will officiate. Interment will take place at Alto-Reste Cemetery, Altoona.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family or directly to the funeral home to assist with expenses.
A luncheon and time of fellowship will take place immediately following funeral services, at Dry Run Independent Baptist Church, Duncansville.
