Helen L (Slowik) Guyer

Helen L. Guyer, age 61, of Altoona, formerly of Duncansville, died Tuesday morning, January 19, 2021 at her home, following a brief battle with cancer. She was born July 6, 1959 in Altoona, a daughter of the late Daniel J. and Evelyn Marie (Bookamire) Slowik. She married Lester J. Guyer III on Oct. 1, 1983 at St. Mary’s Church, Altoona. He preceded her in death on Sept. 21, 2007.

She is survived by two sons: Joshua D. Guyer (Samantha) of Duncansville and Matthew L. Guyer of Pittsburgh; 6 grandchildren: Maliki Atreal Guyer, Cadynce Marie Guyer, Jacob Wayne Guyer, Ayden Jacob Guyer, Mackenzie Reign Guyer, and Charlize Ann Guyer; and four siblings: Teresa Doran, Mary Kay Slowik, Ronald P. Slowik, and Joseph P. Slowik.

She was preceded in death by four siblings: Barbara Dolan, and Herbert P. Slowik, John Slowik, and Steven M. Slowik.

Helen was a 1978 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle High School.

She loved being a grandma and adored her grandchildren.

A graveside interment service for family will be held at 11am on Monday, January 25, 2021 at Carson Valley Cemetery, officiated by Father Ronald V. Osinski.
