Jo Ann (Stalter) Carey

Jo Ann Carey, age 70, of Altoona, died unexpectedly at UPMC Altoona on Wednesday, June 26, 2024. She was born February 27, 1954 in Altoona, the daughter of the late Paul C. Stalter Jr. and Betty J. (Burkhart) Stalter.

Surviving are two sons, whom she cherished: Jamie Carey (Hanna) and Pete Carey, all of Duncansville.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: Mike Stalter and Mark Stalter.

Jo was a 1972 graduate of Altoona High School and also a graduate of Pennsylvania State University. She retired from Skills as a caregiver.

She loved nature, being outdoors, and spending time with her family.

There will be no public services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mending Hearts Animal Rescue (4771 E. Loop Rd., Hollidaysburg, PA 16648) and / or the Central PA Humane Society (1837  E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602).
