Joel R Bert

Joel R. Bert, age 73, of Hollidaysburg, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 9, 2021. He was born April 25, 1948 in Newburg, Cumberland County, a son of the late John S. Bert, Sr. and Lela M. (Myers) Bert. He married Connie M. Reath on June 27, 1970 at Air Hill Brethren in Christ Church in Chambersburg.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Connie M. Bert; three sons: Bradley J. Bert (wife Heather) of Hollidaysburg, Eric J. Bert of Hollidaysburg, and Brian S. Bert (wife Alyssa) of Petersburg; one grandson, Nolan Bert; 8 brothers and 7 sisters.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John S. Bert, Jr.

Joel was a graduate of Shippensburg High School. He retired from Electrolux as a salesman and repairman and also from Sheetz, where he was a delivery driver.

He was a member of Hollidaysburg Church of the Brethren. He loved watching sports, including the Steelers, Penguins, Phillies and the 76ers, and enjoyed going to Altoona Curve games, especially on firework nights. He enjoyed doing puzzles.

Friends will be received on Wed., June 16, 2021 from 4-8pm at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Duncansville, and on Thurs., June 17 from 10 until the 11am funeral service, officiated by Pastor Linda Banaszak, at Hollidaysburg Church of the Brethren. Interment will take place at Carson Valley Cemetery.
