John G Hartsock

John G. Hartsock, age 84, Duncansville, died Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at UPMC Altoona. He was born May 11, 1942 in Altoona, son of the late John N. and Emma Mary (Smith) Hartsock. He married Joan E. Boyd on October 3, 1964 at Hicks Memorial United Methodist Church.

Surviving is his wife, Joan E. Hartsock; a daughter, Heather J. Merriman (Robert) of Duncansville; two granddaughters: Hannah Merriman of Rural Valley and Olivia Merriman of Duncansville; and two brothers: Dr. Thomas G. Hartsock and Stephen L. Hartsock, both of Clarksburg, MD.

John was a 1960 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. He retired from Berwind-White where he was a welder and Hoss’s, where he was a truck driver.

He was a member of Hicks Memorial Methodist Church and the Hollidaysburg Masonic Lodge #220 F&AM, where he was a Past Master in 1986 and had recently received his 50 year pin.

John enjoyed life-long antique car collecting, farming, horses, and socializing with church friends.

Friends will be received on Monday, May 18, 2026 from 5-8pm at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Duncansville and on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 from 10 until the 11am funeral service at Hicks Memorial Methodist Church, Duncansville. Rev. Rich Morris will officiate.
