John A Hoover

John A. "Johnny" Hoover, age 65, of Altoona, died Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Altoona following an extended illness. He was born May 27, 1958 in Altoona, a son of the late Richard C. and Anna D. (Pruznak) Hoover.

Surviving are three sisters: Beverly Bush (Kevin) of South Carolina, Susan Shay (Mark) of Hollidaysburg, and Rebecca Courtot (Richard) of Ashville; and three nieces and a nephew: Ashley, Krista, Sydney, and Benjamin Shay.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard C. “Rick” Hoover, Jr.

John was a graduate of Altoona Vo-Tech. He formerly worked at Oak Spring Winery, then volunteered at Contact Altoona for many years.

He attended Grace Bible Church, where he helped with Operation Christmas Child. 

John enjoyed volunteering and helping others.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no services.
