Joseph L. Kimble, age 61, of Altoona, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 19, 2017. Born September 13, 1956 in Tyrone, he is a son of Willie and Nancy J. (Woodring) Kimble. He married Jennifer A. Calvert on Aug. 26, 2004 in Altoona.
Survived by his wife; his parents of Louisiana; 2 step-children: Aaron Riley (Paige) of Baltimore, MD and Sara Riley (Apollo Wansley) of Duncansville; 2 grandchildren: Tonie Scaglione and Ryker Wansley; 4 siblings: Woody Kimble, Tim Kimble and Cindy Warden (husband Rocky), all of Louisiana, and Tammy Wiltz (husband Vincent) of Arkansas; a grandfather, Joseph Cox, of Louisiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was recently preceded in death by his beloved dog, Ellie.
Joe was a 1974 graduate of Tyrone High School, where he was active in wrestling, football and track. He worked for Sheetz for the past 38 years, where he was currently their maintenance coordinator. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose #74, the Catholic War Veterans, and the Caesar Batiste Club.
He loved sports, especially Penn State, Dallas and LSU football. He was an avid golfer and played for many years at the Indoor Golf League in Altoona. Joe was famous for his deep-fried turkeys and seafood creole. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren.
Friends will be received on Fri., Sept. 22, 2017 from 5-9pm and on Sat., Sept. 23 from 10am until the 11am funeral service, officiated by Rev. Benjamin Woodring, at Liebegott-Brown Funeral Home, Inc., 1218 4th Ave., Duncansville. Interment will take place at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice to help with hurricane disaster relief.
