Marilyn J. Hainley, age 88, formerly of Duncansville, died Friday evening, December 14, 2018, at the Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg. She was born August 7, 1930 in Altoona, a daughter of the late Cloyd and Hilda (Kaltsmith) Murray. She married Paul F. Hainley on Oct. 15, 1960 at the Greenwood United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on June 20, 1997.

She is survived by a daughter Faith (Alan) Weyandt; a son Fred F. (Brenda) Hainley; a granddaughter April Bush, whom Marilyn raised in her home for 15 years; other grandchildren: Eric, Kayla, and Brian; a great-grandson Hunter; and three brothers: Robert, Galen and Lowell Murray. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and great friends: the Til Black family and the Marie Harker family.

She was preceded in death by three brothers: Gary, Allen and Paul Murray, and three sisters: Joyce Westover,  Darlene Schoch and Virginia Laws.

Marilyn was a 1949 graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School. She was a self-employed cleaning person for many years. She was a member of Hick’s United Methodist Church, where she was a past treasurer of the Grace Koon Sunday School Class, a member of the Prayer Quilters, and helped with many church activities and odd jobs. She belonged to the United Methodist Women’s Society Administration Board, serving on other committees as needed, and was a Girl Scout leader for 12 years during the 70’s.

Marilyn liked to keep busy. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, doing seek-a-word and picture puzzles, going to Curve games, and attending family functions. She was a friend to all.

There will be no public viewing. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place at Carson Valley Cemetery.
