Marjorie Carolyn Parisi, age 84, a resident of Garvey Manor, formerly of Hollidaysburg and Maryland, died Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Garvey Manor. Born May 7, 1933 in Roaring Spring, a daughter of the late Kenneth C. and Virginia C. (Nelson) Werts.
She graduated from Hollidaysburg High School in 1951 and from West Penn Hospital School of Nursing, Pittsburgh, in 1954. She later attended Parson School of Design in New York.
In 1961 she married Robert Parisi on Long Island, NY. He preceded her in death in 2001. They spent much of their life together in the Long Island and New York City area. There they enjoyed many friends. They loved being near the ocean with beaches and boating. They enjoyed going to the opera and other events in NYC.
Marjorie is survived by a brother, Kenneth Werts (Peggy) of Davidsonville, MD, and a sister, Christina DiBernardinis (Dale) of Hollidaysburg. She is also survived by nieces and nephews with whom she enjoyed special and meaningful relationships. They live in Pennsylvania, California, Maryland, New York, Florida, the U.K., and with the US Air Force.
Marjorie did private duty nursing for many years. After attending design school, she worked in interior design. Her favorite project was the interior decoration of a Hospice House in Easton, MD. She was also a hospice volunteer.
Marjorie will be remembered for her wit, wisdom, appreciation of beauty, her unique style - but mostly for her loving heart.
She was of the Christian faith, and in the last weeks of her life she was comforted by this verse written by Lanny Wolfe and based on Matthew 18:20:
Surely the presence
of the Lord is in this place
I can feel His mighty power
and His grace
I can hear the brush of angel's wings
I see glory on each face
Surely the presence
of the Lord is in this place
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public viewing.
