August 14, 1957 ~ September 19, 2021 (age 64)

Obituary

Mark D. Coho, age 64, of Gallitzin, formerly of Lakemont, died Sunday, September 19, 2021 at UPMC Altoona. He was born August 14, 1957 in Altoona, a son of Charles Edward and Eva Loretta (Lanzendorfer) Coho.

Surviving are his parents, Ed and Eva; three siblings: Donald Edward (Debra) Coho, Jennifer Lynn (Dennis) Eger, and Stephanie Ann (Lee) Maurer; his nieces, whom he adored: Danielle (James Spencer), and Alyssa and Carly Maurer; and uncles and aunts: Melvin “Skip” (Glenda) Lanzendorfer, Cora Lanzendorfer, Leona Lanzendorfer, and Ruth Coho.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Loretta Mary, who was born and passed on May 12, 1958. Mark was also preceded in death by his grandparents: Andrew Ward and Kathryn (Bailey) Coho and Leo and Olene (Baker) Lanzendorfer, as well as aunts and uncles: Kenneth P. Coho, Rita (Joseph) Noel, Earl, Leo Jr. (Ruth), Raymond (Bertha), William (Ginny), Roger (Alberta), Clair (LaRue), Louis (Agnes), and Floyd Dennis Lanzendorfer; and numerous cousins.

Mark, also known as “Pidge”, was a 1975 graduate of Altoona High School. In his younger days, Mark was an avid, highly competent and competitive golfer. He developed significant power and consistency from within a very compact swing. His home course was the Park Hills Country Club, and playing with “Dutch” Coho in the annual Park Hills Classic (circa 1981), the two-man pairing lost the Championship on the final hole. An opponent “holed out” from a sand trap on the 580-yard, par 5, eighteenth hole to defeat the pair from Lakemont. He loved sports, especially golf, football and hockey.

He was a volunteer at Central PA Humane Society and he loved his dog, Mags.
