Mary Catherine (Shoelfelt) Litzinger

Mary Catherine Litzinger, age 99, of Altoona, died Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at Maybrook Hills Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was born May 17, 1924 in Manns Choice, daughter of the late Joseph E. and Della E. (Miller) Shoenfelt. She married James S. Litzinger on January 19, 1943 in Cumberland, MD. He preceded her in death on July 2, 2004.

Survived by a daughter, Mary Darlene Weibley (James) of Gallitzin; a son, John P. Litzinger of Duncansville; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Patterson of Altoona.

She was preceded in death by a son, James E. “Herk” Litzinger  November 25, 2020; a sister, June Priddy; 6 brothers: Joseph Anson Shoenfelt, George K. “Kay” Shoenfelt, Samuel M. “Tim” Shoenfelt, Harry A. Shoenfelt, Charles Russell Shoenfelt, and William V. Shoenfelt; and a daughter-in-law, Beverly Litzinger.

Mary was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and baking, crochet and knitting, camping, and being at the beach. She loved being with and around her family.

Friends will be received on Friday, June 16, 2023 from 11am until the 1pm service, at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Duncansville. Father Lubomir Strecok will officiate. Interment will take place at Blair Memorial Park.
