Mason J George Jr

Mason J. George, Jr., age 63, of Altoona, died Monday afternoon, January 29, 2018 at home after an extended illness. He was born on February 9, 1954, a son of Mason J. George, Jr. of Altoona and the late Patricia (White) George. He was preceded in death by his wife, Richelle K. (Johnson) George, in 2015.

Survived by a daughter, Holly Kennedy of East Freedom; 4 step-children: Rachel Keller, Matthew Johnson, Michael Wertz and Derek Price, all of Altoona; 14 grandchildren; and 5 siblings: Cindy Wertz of Altoona, Mary George of Altoona, Brian George of Duncansville, Bruce George of Harrisburg, and Zane George of MD.

He was preceded in death by 2 siblings: Bonnie Falina and Barry George.

Mason was a US Army veteran. He was a past member of the VFW and American Legion in Everett and the Chapman Hunting Club in Clearville, and a former member of Chaneysville Fire Hall. He was a Steelers fan and enjoyed hunting and spending time at the family farm in Clearville.

Friends will be received on Thurs., Feb. 1, 2018 from 5-8pm and on Fri., Feb. 2 from 9am until the 11am funeral service, with Military Honors by the Blair County Veterans Honor Guard, at Liebegott-Brown Funeral Home, Inc., 1218 4th Ave., Duncansville. Interment will take place at Blair Memorial Park.
