Norma Nickum Obituary

Norma Jean Nickum, age 87, a resident of Garvey Manor, Hollidaysburg, died Saturday evening, July 13, 2024 at the home. She was born May 5, 1937 at home in Duncansville, a daughter of the late Floyd and Alma (Hoover) Hartman. She married James E. Nickum, who preceded her in death on July 1, 1984.

Surviving are five children: Patti Holzer (Arthur) of Wyoming, Marilyn Tipton (Larry) of Claysburg, Bruce Nickum (Bobbi) of Hollidaysburg, Karen Hite of Martinsburg, and Lori Glunt (Terry) of Hollidaysburg; 13 grandchildren: David Holzer, Dawn Kromrey, Tiffany Song, Angel Gerger, Trisha Nickum, Andrew Nickum, Stacey Dodson, Skyler Steinbugl, C.J. Hite, Jennifer Yarnell, Sheena Ickes, Ryan Baker, and Brendan Baker; and 20 great-grandchildren: Alexa Kromrey, Harper, Hailey, and Zander Holzer, Clara and Eddie Song, Avery, Hazel, and Oliver Dodson, Willow, Kayson, and Everly Steinbugl, Jacob and Allison Yarnell, Sophia Ickes, Haley and Brody Hite, Nora, Emma, and Thea Baker; and one on the way.

She was preceded in death by a grandson Stephen Hite; 7 siblings: Homer, George, Merle, Donald, and Robert Hartman, Mildred Piper, and infant sister Eleanor; and her beloved dogs: Lassie, Brittany, and Buttons.

Norma had worked for Barton’s Candy and was a private nurse’s aide. She enjoyed crocheting and was an avid soap-opera watcher.

At Norma’s request, there will be no public services.

Interment will take place at Holsinger Cemetery, New Enterprise.
