Patricia Ann (Decker) Gonsman, age 84, of Duncansville, passed into the arms of the angels at her residence, surrounded by her loving family after a brief but courageous battle with cancer, on Thursday, June 6, 2024. She was born March 17, 1940 in Altoona, daughter of the late Raymond F. and Mary E. (Colbert) Decker.
She graduated from Altoona High School in 1958 and wasted no time marrying the love of her life, Robert Gonsman, on November 8, 1958, at St. Therese Catholic Church in Altoona. Their love resulted in 5 children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Patricia is survived by her husband, Robert; a daughter, Theresa and husband, John Martin; three sons: Richard and wife, Sue Ann Gonsman, Mark and wife, Christy Gonsman, Michael and wife, Michele Gonsman; a sister, Mona Walker; a daughter in law Annetta (Donald’s widow); 15 grandchildren: Corey Dodson, Lindsay Nash-Hair, Emily Price, Tiffany Gonsman, Adam Martin, Grant Martin, Megan Sunderland, Josh Gonsman, Abby Gonsman, Andrew Gonsman, Jenna Gonsman, Julia Gonsman, Katelyn Grant, Courtney Grant, and Cassidy Grant; and 8 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Donald, two sisters: Mary Lou Clinger and Margaret Jane Treon; and a brother John Decker.
Patricia worked in her early life at many places before becoming a homemaker, including Sylvania, Puritan, Home Nursing, and C-Cor.
Patricia’s life was full of activities involving her kids, and grandkids. She loved attending school activities such as football games, dance recitals, music concerts, and school plays. She also enjoyed camping, holiday parties, the beach, scrapbooking, and meeting her high school friends for their monthly lunch gathering. Her proudest achievement was being a homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8pm on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Duncansville. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, Father Justin Treon, officiant. Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
