Philip Fleck Obituary

Philip T. Fleck, age 84, of Duncansville, died peacefully at home on Monday, November 29, 2021, after a long struggle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was born September 29, 1937 in Duncansville, a son of the late Charles R. and Kathryn C. (Kelly) Fleck. He married Annetta E. Yingling on July 23, 1960 at St. Patrick’s Church, Newry.

Surviving are his wife, Annetta; a daughter, Kellie A. Boal; a son, Jeffrey E. Fleck (Julie); 5 grandchildren: Katie (Jesse) Mangiacarne, Andrew Boal, Jennifer Boal, Daniel Fleck, and Joseph Fleck; 2 great-grandchildren: Carson and Connor Mangiacarne; 2 brothers: Brian (Beverly) Fleck and Charles “Bill” Fleck; a 2 sisters: Joann Fleck and Donna Burget.

He was preceded in death by a son, Dr. David T. Fleck in 2019.

Phil was a 1955 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and a 1958 graduate of Williamson Trade School in Media, PA. He served in the US Army Reserves for 6 years. He was a self-employed carpenter, was superintendant for Duncansville Borough from 1965 to 1978, and was the building superintendant for Hollidaysburg Area School District from 1978 until retirement in 1999.

He was a member of Hick’s United Methodist Church and for many years he was an active member of the Duncansville Ambulance Association, Duncansville Fire Co., and the Duncansville Municipal Authority.

Phil enjoyed walking, reading, gardening, fly tying, making stained glass, and being a handyman for family and friends. He was a special husband, father, pappy, brother, co-worker, and friend.

Memorial contributions may be made to: Mending Hearts Animal Rescue (PO Box 97, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648) and/or Central PA Humane Society (1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602).

All services will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
