Phyllis was a long-time member of Carson Valley Church of the Brethren and faithfully attended all church services. She served her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, by participating on the Nominating committee, Sunday School class secretary, making communion bread, serving at funeral dinners, and making delicious baked goods for the church fellowship meals, church fund raisers, and special events at the church. She visited the sick in nursing homes, sent greeting cards, and had a deep caring for family members and friends.
Phyllis was the primary caregiver for her mother, Dora, when she became ill. When her parents were alive, she also assisted with caring for her disabled niece, Lisa, when Lisa’s mom and step-father needed a well-deserved break from care giving. She always had a listening ear when a family member was going through a problem.
She was a 1958 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. She was employed at Brubaker Upholstery/CarVal Furniture as a seamstress for many years, until the business closed.
In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with and chatting on the phone with family and friends, watching TV, game shows, solving cross word puzzles, gardening, and caring for her dogs and cats. She also was a bargain shopper and thus she was able to dress in a variety of stylish, attractive clothes and always had her hair just looking perfect.
She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Friends will be received on Thursday, June 19, 2025 from 3 until the 5pm funeral service all at Carson Valley Church of the Brethren. Pastor Paul Johnson will officiate. Interment will take place at Carson Valley Cemetery.
