Richard E. Dively, Sr., age 83, of Claysburg, died unexpectedly Sunday evening, August 24, 2025 at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home. He was born August 2, 1942 in Claysburg, a son of the late Albert and Annie (Feathers) Dively. He married Mary A. Jennings on Sept. 8, 2001 at Upper Claar Church of the Brethren.
Surviving is his wife; five sons: Richard Jr. (Jackie), Anthony (Cheryl), James (Karen), Daniel, and Kenneth; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two step-children: Cris Fredrickson (Eizu), and Douglas Stacey (Jennifer).
He was preceded in death by siblings: Raymond, Jessie, John, and Charles Dively, Lena Billy, Lona Brown, and infant Mary Jane; and a daughter-in-law, Stephanie.
Richard attended Claysburg-Kimmel High School. He retired from the refractory in Claysburg. He was a US Navy veteran, serving from 1962-66 during Vietnam and the Cuban Crisis, earning rank of 2nd Class Boiler Tech.
He was a lifetime member of D.A.V., a member of Duncansville VFW Post 8724, where he was a past commander, and was an active national representative for V.A.V.S. at the VA hospital for the American Legion since 2010. He was a past vice-commander of the Blair County Veterans Honor Guard, having served over 975 military funerals. Richard was past president and co-founder of the Legion Riders Post 522. He received the General Soyster Veterans Award for his service to our veterans.
He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and volunteering for many charity organizations.
Friends will be received on Friday, August 29, 2025 from 10am until the 10:45am funeral service at Upper Claar Church of the Brethren, officiated by Pastor Mark Wyland. Interment will take place at Alto-Reste Cemetery.
