Ruth Louise (Kulp) Gill

Ruth Louise Gill, age 85, of Duncansville, died Friday evening, September 25, 2020, at UPMC Altoona, after a brief illness. She was born December 30, 1934 in Williamsport, daughter of the late Miles K. Kulp and Ruth W. (Foust) Bartley. She married Louis G. Gill on Jan. 15, 1955 at St. Monica’s Church, Chest Springs. He preceded her in death in 1979.

Survived by 5 children: Nancy Montanye (LaRue) of Muncy, Judy DiLeo (Vincent) of Altoona, Paul Gill (Carrie) of Allison Park, John Gill (Hilda) of El Paso, TX, and Thomas Gill (Susan) of Bloomsburg; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her step-father, William H. Bartley, in 1981, and long-time special friend, Francis Ronald “Mac” McGinnis, in 2009.

Ruth was a 1952 graduate of Jersey Shore High School. She previously worked at Grit Publishing in Williamsport, the ARC Federal Credit Union in Altoona, then retiring from Blair Medical Group, Altoona, in 2006.

She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church, Duncansville, and a long-time member of the Bunco Card Club. She was a season ticket holder to the Altoona Community Theatre.

Ruth enjoyed her home, spending time with family, taking adult classes in computer and technology, her kitchen gadgets, genealogy, and playing Mrs. Claus.

There will be no public viewing. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Wed., Sept. 30, 2020 at St. Catherine of Siena Church. (Face coverings required.) Interment will take place at St. Monica’s Cemetery, Chest Springs.
