Sara Carolyn “Kate” Dicken, age 84, formerly of Carson Valley, Duncansville, died Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at the Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg. She was born February 3, 1934 in Grampian, a daughter of the late Harry M. and Pauline (Miller) Shaffer. She married Donald E. Dicken on June 6, 1959.
Survived by her husband, Donald; two sons: Scott Dicken (Barbara) of Cottage Grove, Minnesota and Todd Dicken (Lisa) of Huntingdon; a daughter Heidi Fogle (Paul) of Duncansville; 6 grandchildren; two sisters: Claudia Wall of Altoona and Shirley Jaehn of Boston, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Carolyn was a 1951 graduate of Altoona High School. She first worked at Butterick, then retired from Home Nursing Agency. She was a member of Hick’s United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Welcome Sunday school class and a past leader of the youth group. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends.
Friends will be received on Mon., Dec. 3, 2018 from 6-8pm at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Duncansville, and on Tues., Dec. 4 from 10am until the 11am Memorial Service at Hick’s United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Rich Morris. Interment will take place at Carson Valley Cemetery.
