Thomas E. Lingenfelter, age 76, of Duncansville, went home with his Lord and Savior on Friday, August 2, 2024, at Windber Hospice, due to a fatal fall. He was born December 23, 1947 in Altoona, son of the late Thomas H. and M. Louise (Hainsey) Lingenfelter.
Surviving is his beloved Suzie Ickes, ‘The Baby’, as he liked to call her, who would have celebrated 40 years together this October; a son, Thomas A. Lingenfelter; a daughter, Tina Lingenfelter; step-sons: Mike Hazenstab (Jessica) and Bill Ickes (Monica); 8 grandchildren: Nikki, Tyler, Josh, Cody, Brooke, Mick, Jess, and Hayley; 7 great-grandchildren: Caleb, Emma Faith, Paisley, Jedrek, Makston, Lorelai, and Elowyn; a sister, Maddie Reseg (Joe); many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Cindy Filegar. He is also survived by his four-footed fury kids: Jorgie Boy and Maxx, which will definitely miss him.
Tom was a 1967 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. He worked at Claysburg Brick Yard and many other places until he found his niche at Lowe’s. He was known as Pap and everyone knew if you needed help to go see Pap. He received a 15 year ring for his service there and it was inscribed with ‘Pap’, which he was very proud of it. His license plate was also PAP.
He loved helping people and would do anything he could for anyone. Tom was called the ‘critter sitter’ as he would watch Sophie, Maggie, and Abby for his niece and nephew.
Tom loved going to classic car shows and meeting with Bill Shaw and the gang on Sunday afternoons. He also enjoyed going with his son, Tommy, to Cumberland car show every Labor Day weekend. He had a 1941 Nash, which he sadly never got to finish. It made him very happy when Tommy would come hang out and sit and talk and drink a Coke. Sometimes they would work on cars together.
He was so proud of his daughter, Tina. She was always there for him.
Pap was a very loving, caring person. He enjoyed telling his stories to whoever would listen about his travels with CCG Cable Co. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
He was a member of Altoona Bible Church. As a new believer in Christ, he enjoyed going to Bible studies with his cousin, Jim.
Friends will be received from 5-8pm on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 and from 10 until the 11am funeral service on Thursday, August 8 at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Duncansville. Pastor Stewart McClelland will officiate. Interment will take place at Carson Valley Cemetery, Duncansville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Central PA Humane Society (1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602).
