Trafford W. "Tap" Smith, age 94, of Duncansville, died Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Hillview Heathcare Center, Altoona. He was born October 17, 1927 in Altoona, son of the late Raymond H. and Carrie Elizabeth (Franklin) Smith. He was preceded in death by two wives: Audrey L. Chappelle in 1977 and Pauline E. "Dot" Sell in 2019.
Surviving are a daughter, Margie Biddle (Ed) of Altoona; four step-daughters: Joyce Smith (Herb) of Donnertown, Bonnie Hammel (Gary) of Donnertown, Jody Harker (Dwayne) of Hollidaysburg, and Tracie Dick (Steve) of Roaring Spring; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, with one on the way; a sister, Pauline Eger of Carson Valley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by 3 sisters: Judy Miller, Levina "Biney" Hazenstab, an infant sister Gloria; and 7 brothers: Vian, Harry, Raymond Jr "Mick", Terry "Ears", Clayton "Boog", Donald "Skeets", and Daniel "Hoon".
Tap was a US Army veteran, serving during WWII. He retired from the A&P Warehouse.
He enjoyed fishing, golfing and bowling.
Friends will be received on Thurs., June 23, 2022 from 5 until the 7pm funeral service, with Military Honors accorded by the Blair County Veterans Honor Guard, at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Duncansville. Interment will take place at Leamersville - Riverview Cemetery.
