Winifred Y. Hinish, age 80, James Creek, formerly of Duncansville, died Monday evening, February 12, 2024, at UPMC Altoona, following a brief illness. She was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late H. Vaughn Edmiston and Gale E. (Reffner) Edmiston-Replogle. She married William H. “Herb” Hinish, Jr. in March of 1975 at Hick’s Memorial United Methodist Church, Duncansville, by Pastor Tom Irwin.
Surviving is her husband, Herb; a son, Thomas Mathews; three step-children: Apryle Suvak (Joseph), Dayna Collins (Gary), and Eric Hinish (Tracy); five step-grandchildren: Joey, Jordan, Joshua, Trey, and Samantha; and three step-great-grandchildren: Ella, Lilly, and Abby.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Michael R. Mathews, in 1974, and her step-father, Milton H. Replogle, in 2005.
Winnie was a 1961 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. She worked for many years at Butterick and retired as a supervisor.
She enjoyed crafting and cooking and was a great seamstress.
Friends will be received from 10am until the noon funeral service on Friday, February 16, 2024 at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Duncansville. Pastor Rich Morris will officiate. Interment will take place at Alto-Reste Cemetery.
